PART 2: DETAILED POLICY STANCE

10. The Balance of Power: Where do you draw the line between a government's duty to protect public safety and its constitutional obligation to respect the privacy of its citizens? Please explain your overarching political stance on mass surveillance, and justify why you believe your approach aligns with the core principles of a free society.

I am very much against the use of Flock or similar cameras in public places as it is a huge invasion of privacy. The decision to put these cameras up and what type of data to collect and keep was not made with residents' input. That information has been used in ways to harm people and threaten their safety here in FL, especially ex-partners of those with access. The county and city commissions should allow for public input and consideration before any decisions are made.
